Ideal for Pre-Schoolers

Quick and easy, great fun rubbing in rolling and cutting the cakes out!

Welsh Cakes

Makes 8

100g Self Raising Flour

35g Caster Sugar plus extra for dusting

35g Dried Fruit (Optional)

1 egg

1Tbsp Milk

50g Margarine or Butter

1 tsp lemon Zest

Oil for griddling




How to Make

Takes 25 mins

  • Rub together the 100g of flour and 50g of margarine or butter.

  • Stir in 35g caster sugar 1 tsp zest  and 35g dried fruit (if using).

  • Slowly add the egg to make a soft dough.

  • Roll out to a thickness of 5mm and cut into circles with a cutter, squash the dough back in to a ball and repeat until the dough is used.

  • Heat a frying pan or griddle on the stove (ask an adult for help with the stove).

  • Griddle the welsh cake for approx 2 mins on each side on a medium heat.

  • Remove from the pan and dust with the extra sugar.

    Enjoy warm or cold
